South Fork, CO - 8169 Ft.

Nothing monumental on the trip up US 285 as the roads were clear and traffic light -- for awhile had thought I might be following another RV with a car in tow all the way to Colorado but, they turned in at Ojo Caliente.  Mostly 2 lane roads after the split from 84 and there was more climbing than I had expected.  The winds again kept me leary of exceeding much over 60 and some of the inclines did too.

Cabins to our left.
Finally reached the Colorado state line at about 12:15 and think we got settled in here a little after 4:00 p.m. and I walked back to the Visitor Center in the center of town to get the Jeep -- had unhitched it there while I checked out the RV parks and decided on the Grandview Cabins & RV Resort just a half mile up Hwy 149 toward Creede, CO -- about a 1/4 mile from the bridge over the Rio Grande River (the start of the "Glold Medal Stream" section of the Rio Grande River).

Mule Deet - just part of herd
Saw some animal droppings on my RV site and all around as I hooked up the electrical, cable, water and sewer -- expected we might therefore see some wildlife here in this nice camp nestled next to the base of the mountain and woods.  And so it happened last night just around sundown, about two dozen mule deer came foraging through the campgrounds and bedded down in the field to the west of us.  My cats were enthralled with the spectacle -- me too.

An amazing sunset and first evening here at Grandview Cabins & RV Resort -- thinking I made the right choice for sure (for a change).
