Water in the Rio Grande River

So glad to see some real water flowing in the river today as I ventured out in the early afternoon looking for some Capt. Morgan's Spiced Rum for making Long Island Iced Teas.  Some six miles east of here on the frontage road (Central Avenue SW), I found numerous shops and places to eat along the way and Sky Hi Liquors got my attention for the rum and more places in the next mile or so too before heading across the bridge over the Rio Grande.  What a relief to see some water actually flowing toward the south although some 226 miles to the south it is a different story in Las Cruces as I found nothing but a dry riverbed just a couple weeks ago.

I parked in a spot just beyond the end of the bridge and trekked toward the direction of the river to get actual pictures of what I hoped was flowing water -- not just something dammed up for the enjoyment of the residents of Albuquerque (as I had found last year in Pecos).  A short walk took me to the banks of the river and just past Riverside Trail which seemingly runs all along the river (mostly to the north).  After getting a couple shots at the riverbank, I headed back to the parking area and up onto the bridge I had driven across to get a better view from one of the nice lookouts constructed with the bridge.

It looks like the pictures made it into the folder this time -- lost some from yesterday's outing where I saw some homes with the semi-circular rooms like the house on Quitman Street in Denver (where I grew up).  On my list of retakes in the days to come.

Well, the Long Island Iced Teas were really tasty and the dust filled air made them even more enjoyable -- winds were really wicked most of today and expect them to resume again tomorrow.  Tiger didn't even like being outside in the wind earlier -- only lasted 10 or 15 minutes at most.

Met another RVer today (while walking Tiger) who had to make an emergency stop here and she said she may be here a month too -- name is Marilyn and maybe she will be interested in joining me for that trip to Chaco Canyon.  That's my hope anyway.
