Chilly Morning
Well, so to speak it is, compared to the usually 10 degrees warmer mornings here. However, as I take note, it is 32 degrees warmer here than back in Northern Virginia and besides in a few days I will be heading farther south to Key Largo, my next stop at Calusa Campgrounds there on the South Sound.
Rather breezy here so, decided to close the patio awning as it made some noises that scared Tiger and Molly -- probably thought their protective roof could be blowing off. Supposed to be partly cloudy today but, the sun is shining brightly now beneath or between the lines of clouds streaking in from the southwest.
Had been up earlier (around 3:30 a.m.), fighting off an invasion of the littlest black ants visible to man (or at least to this one). The cat food dishes were their target and the droppings around them -- thanks to my sloppy and spoiled twins (mostly Tiger). I reverted back to a technique used in my house in Kingstowne -- using a small plate of water under the food dishes but, there still are large numbers gathering around the perimeter (perhaps talking over how they can cross the moat). Just wait until I get that spray this morning.
Looked across the street at the corner yard of the house and noticed a couple pink flamingos planted in the ground (fake plastic, of course). Had forgotten this is a holiday weekend for most government employess -- apparently not the spanish speaking family occupying the house I am parked next to -- so am rethinking my next trip into the Everglades and thinking tomorrow might be the better day and still give me another shot on Monday or Tuesday, if there is something else I want to see. It's supposed to be mostly sunny the next few days and pictures might be better -- if the wildlife cooperates.
Maybe another stop at Robert's Tropical Fruit stand too before heading to Key Largo.
